Hi all; I've been using the demo of Jaws 6 for about 4 months. I have a pretty good handle on things, but I was wondering if y'all would like to post little tips here. I know the majority use jfw, so I figure there are a lot of tips! Anything you think would be helpful! I'm finding tables tricky. Also the mouse keys, they are very different then what I'm use to. So, any advice and tools on these 2 subjects and anything else! I enjoy learning about this stuff...smiles!

well, just some very basic tips (since I don't know how advanced you are and I'm really not the most advanced user even if I've been using JFW for a long time) jaws key + arrow down will read document from beginning to end (or until you press any key, ctrl is a good key since it just stops Jaws without doing anything else) insert-left reads word to the left and insert-right reads the word to the right of the cursor. Sometimes when you can't use tab to click on something online you can switch to Jaws cursor (enter key on the keyboard, sorry I mean the plus key on the keyboard) and then route jaws to pc when you've found the spot and do the click that way.
When navitaging the internet use the n key to skip past a group of links and the h key to get to next heading (just type in the "n" or "h" when not in forms mode and Jaws will get you there).
Typing the h key on this page e.g. gets you straight to the conversations.
I have lots more tips but those are the first ones that come to mind.
cheers

You can use insert b to read dialog boxes. if you press insert 5 on the numpad, jaws will read the current word. Pressing that keystroke twice will spell the word. Pressing it three times will spell the word phonetically. Insert and the number two (above the alphabet keys) will switch between speaking nothing, characters, words or characters and words while typing. Hope this helps you.
